A resort is not a hotel, but it has everything that a hotel does—and then some. In fact, a resort can be a well-thought-out destination in itself, as you can find literally everything you want—whether you are on a vacation or wanting to be far from the madding crowd.
Food, drinks, entertainment, activities, adventure, a spa … name it and the resort may have it. Resorts are often described as “self-contained destinations.” Activities tend to depend upon the environment, as in the cases of swimming resorts, resorts tucked away in a tropical setting, or those located on a stunning white sand beach.
More often than not, those who are staying at resorts are not business people, or just visiting an area for a day or two, but rather families who are looking for a place where they can enjoy bonding, companies which treat their employees while having meetings, or people attending a reunion.
Vacationers are more attracted to resorts. “Many people book resorts for the sake of enjoying the experience being offered by that property,” wrote Kylie Morrow for the website, www.beaches.com. “For some, their main reason for booking a vacation in a particular place is to be able to visit a particular resort. The resort becomes a destination on its own.”
