Tropical Green Smoothies

Beat the heat and stay healthy with this fruity green smoothie recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups spinach

  • 1 cup mango

  • 1 cup pineapple

  • 2 bananas

  • 2 cups water

Directions:

  1. Make sure your spinach is clean and your fruits do not have any seeds or overly fibrous, hard, or browned parts.

  2. In a blender, add your spinach and water. Blend until smooth and make sure there are no spinach chunks or pieces.

  3. Add the mango, pineapple, and bananas. Blend until smooth. You may add more water if the consistency is too thick.

  4. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy!

Notes:

  • If you want your smoothie to be cold, you may add ice while blending or you may freeze your fruits before you use them.

  • If you’d like to add more flavor you may change water into coconut water. And if you’d like it to be creamy you may switch out water for your choice of milk or even yogurt.

  • If mango or pineapples aren’t available or you are allergic, you may use other tropical fruits such as avocado, dragon fruit, papaya, cantaloupe, and honeydew melon. If fresh fruits aren’t accessible to you, try looking at the frozen fruit section of the supermarket. There may be frozen strawberries or peaches that you may use as a substitute. If you are on a budget or just want a small portion then take a look at canned fruits such as pineapple, lychee, or peaches which usually come in cans good for a single serving.

  • If the fruits you are using aren’t very sweet and you’d like to sweeten the smoothie mixture, you may add honey, stevia, or dates.
