Sotogrande Hotel Katipunan: Total Comfort and Convenience in Quezon City

Amanda Virrey

Skyline

Ever wondered if there’s a hotel where you can stay within Metro Manila's main corporate hubs and still get the feeling of being in the suburbs?

Well, there is, and it’s right smack in the yuppy neighborhood of Quezon City, exactly near the junction of Marikina, Pasig, and San Juan.

This 102-room hotel stands out as the only executive 3-star hotel with complete facilities in the Katipunan Avenue extension. That said, you could count on Sotogrande Hotel Katipunan to contain all the comforts you need to live comfortably away from home and be half an hour’s drive away from BGC and Makati.

Known for its warm hospitality and dedicated service, this Enderun-managed hotel has three types of rooms to choose from. There is the Superior Room with one queen bed that’s good for double occupancy, a Deluxe Room with two queen beds that’s perfect for a family with two adults and two children, and the Executive 2-Bedroom Suite, which consists of two separate bedrooms, each with a queen bed and a wardrobe cabinet, as well as a separate living and dining area to offer families with bigger children or two business associates total comfort.

All rooms in Sotogrande Hotel Katipunan are furnished with plush mattresses and pillows, a mini refrigerator, a big flat-screen TV, a coffee and tea-making set, an en suite bathroom with hot and cold shower and bath, a writing desk, and a spacious wardrobe cabinet with robes and bedroom slippers to make your stay relaxed and complete.

Each room also has a view of the city’s bustling skyline, which transforms into a lucid mauve-tinted shade at the setting of the sun.

Bedroom

This city skyline is actually one of Sotogrande Hotel Katipunan’s distinct elements, particularly from the 23rd-floor Sky Lounge, where private parties and conventions may be held amid the 280° panorama of the mystical Sierra Mountain Range engulfing Laguna de Bay, which spills over Marikina and Pasig Rivers against the towering skyscrapers of Makati.

By taking time to keenly observe this panorama at sunset, you could actually come up with a historical timeline of its development and realize the importance of conserving that mountain range and those watersheds for the sustenance of the metro.

A second banquet venue is also found in the Ballroom on the 2nd floor, which is quite idyllic for events like grand family celebrations and corporate events that entail major audio-visual presentations for a maximum capacity of 108 people.

Complementing these two function halls is the hotel’s own food and beverage supplements in the All-Day Dining Hall, where in-house guests can delight in their free breakfast-plated meals and random cravings any time from 6 am to 9 pm. Its menu is also simple yet delicious with specialties, such as Sinigang na Bangus, Rice with Adobo Flakes, Beef Salpicao, Spring Chicken, and desserts like Tiramisu and Turon Special with vanilla ice cream.

And if you want to dine while letting your children swim in the pool, there is the al fresco dining that is strategically positioned to give you an arm’s length from your delectable meal to your loved ones immersed in the shaded swimming area.

Another distinct element that Sotogrande Hotel Katipunan has is its Fitness Center. Situated on the 3rd floor, all types of guests, including walk-ins, can benefit from the gym’s high-end machines, indoor cycling studio overlooking, as well as the steam room and sauna rooms inside the gender-exclusive bathroom and locker areas.

While in-house guests are privileged with free three-day passes at the panoramic Fitness Center, walk-ins can enroll for a long-term membership and gain access to all its facilities from Monday to Saturday from 9 to 3 pm.
