Tagaytay has many hidden coffee shops, restaurants, and brunch spots. Some are a little more upscale than others, whatever your budget is, you’ll be sure to find something. If you are looking for a hidden restaurant that’s surrounded by greenery and away from the main road then check out My Country House.
If you happen to drive by it, there’s a high chance you probably didn’t notice it. There aren’t any large colorful signs pointing to it and from the outside, it just looks like a large house. That homey vibe is definitely its allure. When you walk in, it is instantly comfy and home-like but a little elevated. The tables and chairs are different sizes and styles and it’s not set up in a way that makes it feel rigid and pedantic. It does feel like you are just walking into a large home that’s very bright and open.
There’s a nice receiving area with a front desk and some helpful staff members. Once you walk past that you’ll be in the dining area with a baked goods section to the right along with some other home and pantry products. As far as baked goods go, they had all the basics such as sourdough, hokkaido, and multigrain bread. There were also some interesting cakes such as Jackfruit Sansrival and Brazo De Mercedes Cheesecake. There were also a couple of well-known classics such as chocolate and carrot cake. Some other food items were also on display that you could easily take home with you. There were spicy tuyo flakes, tuyo in olive oil, and sinigang peanuts, all packed in jars and containers. Aside from food, there were other things to look at that were not edible such as coconut wax candles, natural oils, handmade jewelry, and cake plates. They would make nice thoughtful presents too if you were looking for something unique.
To the right of the area by the baked goods, you will also notice their cute bar set-up. The printed tiles and rattan accents make it look inviting. Our visit was during brunch time which felt a bit too early to drink. However, I did get to see the menu and they had some very intriguing drinks. There’s one called Dragon Blood which contains dragonfruit, lychees, and rum. Another one was called Si Sir, which contains gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, dried orange, cacao powder, and chocolate orange bitters. I’ll be coming back for dinner one night to try out their cocktails.
