Even before the corona virus hit the world hard, keeping your day to day travel and any other outdoor engagements and activities safe was a must. And by safe means also being protected not only from the visible harm but also from unseen germs and viruses lurking in the surfaces we touch, the air we breathe and so on. Here’s a list of easy to carry items one should always have on the go to stay protected.
Ethyl Alcohol
Ethyl alcohol or ethanol is one of the must haves almost everyone possessed before, during and even after the pandemic. Aside from topical application to prevent skin infections and immediate sanitation. To date, there has been a lot of iterations for alcohol alone, to include scent and moisturizer to prevent dryness of the skin. On a scale of one to 10, how often do you apply alcohol? Call me crazy, but I apply alcohol every time I see a dispenser in public.

Similar to ethyl alcohol, hand sanitizer is another one of the little handy crowd favorite. It also comes in different sizes including a smaller handy size hence almost everyone have one in their clutch or even pocket. One downside is in terms of consistency hand sanitizers tend to be more sticky than your usual alcohol. Most brands even have beads and shiny particles which discourages some to use them especially for men.
Disinfecting Wipes
Aside from our hands, we get in touch and in contact with a lot of surfaces. Hand rails, door knobs, public bench, handheld phone, counter top, you name it, these things can be home for germs, viruses and bacteria. It is important that we wipe things clean before we lay our hands because these sneaky microbes can pop in anytime. Disinfecting wipes comes in different formats and sizes making it convenient to carry around, put in your bag and also stock up in your office pedestals and kitchen cabinets to wipe anytime. Disinfectant Spray
Unlike the items showed earlier, disinfectant sprays belong on the section for bigger items but that shouldn’t hinder anyone in keeping you safe and protected anywhere you go. As an Asian auntie always clinging to her big tote bag, having an aerosol with me is not a hassle at all especially when it gives me uncompromised protection. To be honest tho, I have to admit that I am not really a fan of these sprays before since the leading brand available before has this strong scent. Good thing I found a brand which has a more soothing scent with even higher concentration. It’s available in Lavender, Citrus and a Fresh Linen scent giving that fresh hotel room crisp vibe. It not only deodorizes the air but also disinfects the air and other surfaces. It can actually kill 99.9% of disease causing germs and viruses keeping us protected at all times. Since the pandemic, this has become a staple on my shopping list.
Portable Air Purifier
The pandemic also has something to contribute when it comes to fashion. Aside from wearing facemasks, faceshields and PPEs, there are also other items worn to give us additional protection. Portable air purifiers may be on the pricey side but these can actually sanitize the air around you at a given radius. This is perfect for use especially when you are at a confined space or a crowded public location. The strap makes it handy or even long enough as a necklace is a big help to make it more convenient for busy young professionals on the go.
Reusable Cutleries
Not necessarily a gadget or disinfectant but having your own cutleries with you is a smart way to secure that whatever you eat in public, you can enjoy your meal safe and sound. Restaurants do offer their own cutleries but not all establishments may provide the best clean especially for the fast food or smaller food business doing batch cleaning of their silverwares. Having your own spoon and fork or even a chopstick can also save time even for the food chain or restaurant’s staff.
There’s nothing wrong with keeping things safer. The pandemic has brought out the paranoia in all of us and there’s really nothing to lose in being prepared and ready against airborne and all sorts of germs, viruses and bacteria around.
