When I was hiring for the first Shangri-La hotel to open in the country in 1992, the EDSA Shangri-La Manila, the hotel opened its doors to many underprivileged young men and women, some with barely any education at all. One among these very lucky Filipinos is Bryant Santarin, who at that time was only 18 years old, old enough to apply for a full-fledged job. 


Bryant is now a Chef de Partie at one of the country’s best-operating Japanese restaurants, Yakumi, situated at the newly opened Solaire Resort & Casino, North EDSA. For you to be hired in a casino hotel complex like Solaire speaks a lot about your qualifications for the job and, more importantly about who you are as a Chef in this highly competitive industry and as a person in general.
