Steak restaurant Flat Iron is continuing to expand, with the opening of its 18th site later this year.
The group will open a new restaurant in London’s Southbank in the Royal Festival Hall this spring.
Overlooking Southbank Centre Square, the restaurant will have space for 220 covers in total and a large, central bar that will divide the space into two- with a bar seating area at the front and the main dining area at the rear.
There will also be a large terrace with hated umbrellas and architectural style planting.
“We are so humbled to open Flat Iron in such a historic and culturally vibrant London landmark,” says Flat Iron’s head of beef, Fred Smith.
‘We have conscientiously designed the interiors to reflect the building’s rich history and cannot wait to use our mission to serve delicious and accessible steak to all Londoners.”
The new restaurant is part of Flat Iron’s sustained expansion. The company opened new restaurants nationwide in Manchester, Cambridge, and Leeds. However, it returned to the capital for its latest restaurant, which opened in Victoria at the end of the year.
In October, the company confirmed it had appointed boutique adviser Houlihan Lokey to assess its options, which are understood to include third-party investment or possible business sale.
In its most recent accounts, sales rose 38% to a record pound49.6m in the 12 months ending August, and underlying profits rose to 5.7m from 3.8m in 2023.
